Why My Past Decade Has Been About TWBH
My unlocked unconscious connected the dots for me to know the answer
Hello,
It’s Sunita here.
“The Way Back Home, An Anthology” was dictated to me by my unconscious.
I did not plan to write any poetry.
But the decision to share my poetry with others was made consciously by me, after a long, and careful deliberation.
Here is why I have been working for the past decade to bring this book and all that it is a genesis of to readers.
When I entered therapy 10 years ago, I initially experienced extremely heightened states of emotional arousal, painful emotions, and confusion in ways that I had never before.
I thought to myself, “There have to be accounts of what transpires in therapy. This is certainly not what I expected. But I’m sure others have put their journey on paper. I’ll read their books and get some bearings.”
Unfortunately, at that time, I found little to help me learn about healing from trauma that came from a patient’s perspective.
Today I strongly believe my work is the result of an unconscious desire to fill that void for others.
It is now my life’s mission to offer those who start their journey of healing and self- discovery to have something to go by.
Going from living with despondency to a life full of hope and joy is achievable.
Trauma to Transcendence is possible.
I know that first hand.
Once we deal with our trauma, the opportunities to grow and self- actualize are not only immense, but beyond what we ever thought was possible.
No doubt, the thought of processing our traumatic childhoods, life challenges and losses, grief, depression, anxiety, and mental illness can be very daunting.
But with the proper professional care, support of loved ones, a commitment to effective self- care practices, and connection with others, we can not only survive trauma, but come out on the other side to thrive with joy.
This powerful insight, gained through my lived experience of healing is a truth I am passionately committed to sharing with others, so they too, can find lasting peace for their troubled minds, in todays complicated world.
Each poem of ‘The Way Back Home- An Anthology’, in succession, lays bare, with a raw and uncompromising honesty, the universal struggles and triumphs of our inner world, shares profound truths about the human experience, and illuminates the path from darkness to light.
Ultimately, TWBH locates our deepest humanity within ourselves.
Stripped of the conscious chatter that surrounds us, externally, and within, TWBH translates the timeless language and profound spirit of the unconscious.
Ultimately, TWBH poetry guides us deep within, where our humanity and truth reside.
Until next time,
Moving forwards,
Sunita
