Hello,
It’s Sunita here.
We often lose ourselves rushing from one place to another. In a blur of hours, days and even years of fast paced activity, travels, and engagements that seemed so important and unavoidable at the time we said yes to them, we fall into the habit of seeking another thing to do, or place to visit.
Being busy becomes a badge of honor, and perhaps the first thing we offer as evidence of our status, or even sadder, our worth.
In a world of wellness, purpose and meaning being reimagined by many of us, the badge of busyness is not a currency of our importance.
It is a sign of concern.
If you have been left feeling empty, physically worn, anxious and upset, wondering why you said yes to a frenetic way of living, then perhaps it’s time to pause.
Maybe our busyness is truly warranted right now. We could be in the middle of an ambitious project, a book tour, raising young children, in school, caring for a loved one, or handling a corporate crisis.
Whatever the cause may be, even if our intense activity level is episodic, we are better off handling it with mindfulness and non negotiable self care.
Otherwise we risk being locked on the conveyor belt of ingesting the empty life calories of ‘busyness’.
If you’re on that belt, feeling dizzy and depleted, then here are some questions to consider asking yourself.
What is my purpose of staying so busy?
What do I feel when I don’t have a packed schedule?
What am I trying to avoid?
How do I feel about myself when I’m not busy?
How does conjuring the thought of ‘doing nothing’ feel inside my body?
Until next time,
Moving forwards in stillness and pause,
Sunita
PS-Todays post is inspired by the courage of the author of The Tell, Amy Griffith.
And to clarify, when I say the destination is grace, I mean grace for ourselves.
